Privacy

Privacy is a core tenant of our company and services. Creating cost-effective and privacy respecting analytics is the whole reason we started 99dev. We think big tech tracking is icky and offensive (watch The Social Dilemma if you haven’t already) and not worth trading your visitors’ privacy for because “free” always comes at a cost.

Our Privacy Promise

We take privacy seriously - ours, yours, and your visitors’. Here’s what we don’t do:

  • No IP address collection
  • No cookies
  • No fingerprinting
  • No data mining
  • No data sales
  • No solicitations
  • No visitor identification

No Cookies

Our analytics utilize zero cookies so there’s no need for any annoying banners or popups regardless of where your users are located. We don’t need cookies because we don’t identify visitors in any way. Instead, we rely on a simple page count to identify sessions, which you can read more about here.

No IP Sniffing

Our tracker and server never inspect or store any IP address information that may be included in any requests. Page views are recoreded completely anonymously and without any form of visitor identification or fingerprinting.

What We Collect

Our tracker collects a minimal set of information including:

  • The URL of the page
  • The timezone the browser’s set to
  • The page view count of the current session
  • The browser’s user agent
  • The page referrer

… and nothing else.

Compliance

By default, our tracker does not gather any Personally Identifiable Information (PII) about your visitors and complies with:

  • PII (Personally Identifiable Information) regulations
  • Health Insurance Portability and Accountability Act (HIPAA) requirements
  • California Consumer Privacy Act (CCPA)
  • Other privacy regulations

Utilize canonical and 99dev metas to ensure no PII or PHI is included in page URLs. Read more here.
